Tools for Embracing the Unknown: Managing Uncertainty and Anxiety in Cancer
Wednesday, February 4, from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm, via Zoom
Cancer brings not only physical challenges but emotional ones as well, especially when navigating the uncertainty of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. In this talk, we will explore practical tools and strategies for managing the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.
Drawing on psychological principles, mindfulness practices, and real-life examples, attendees will learn to foster resilience, reduce stress, and regain a sense of control in the face of the unknown.
Whether you are a patient, caregiver, or loved one, this session will offer actionable insights for navigating the emotional landscape of cancer with greater ease.
Connecting with Nature Indoors
Wednesday, February 11, from 6:30p pm – 7:30 pm, via Zoom
From the great indoors, we will connect with nature by using indoor plants and pictures, looking out a window, and guided imagery (a well-deserved mental field trip).
Participants can learn and practice new skills. We hope you will join us.
Sepsis: What Everyone Should Know — Especially for People with Cancer

The Faith-based Cancer Education Consortium in partnership with Hope Connections for Cancer Support is hosting a virtual educational session focused on understanding sepsis and why it’s especially important for people impacted by cancer.
Presented by Leslie A. Johnson, MSN, RN, CCRN, Clinical Specialist at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, this session will cover key signs, risks, and treatment considerations to help participants recognize sepsis early.

Learn how cancer and its treatments can affect memory, focus, and thinking, and explore practical strategies to manage these cognitive changes in daily life.
Better Sleep, Better Life
Tuesday, February 24, from6:00p pm – 7:00 pm, Virtual
Join us for a special virtual program focused on achieving better sleep and a better life through Non-Pharmacologic Skills and Strategies for Cancer Survivorship. Dr. Hunter Groninger and Dr. Katarina AuBuchon from Georgetown University and MedStar Health, will lead the session and share practical, evidence-based approaches to improving sleep.
They will also discuss a related National Cancer Institute-sponsored study and provide information on how to learn more about participating (completely optional, not required for joining this event).
