    When people are facing a shortened life expectancy Hospice can be there to help. Hospice Care is patient-centered, and it involves mind, body, and spirit. Miriam Rendon-Ponce with Hospice of the Chesapeake will help lead this important discussion. We hope you will join us.

    Join us for this year's March Potluck Social! Feel free to share your favorite Pot O’Soup or Irish Stew, or appetizers, rolls, dessert, soda, tea, or whatever favorite recipe you’ve been wanting to share.     Isabella Nelson (Clinical Dietitian Specialist at Johns Hopkins Medicine) will discuss:

    strategies to maintain good nutrition while experiencing side effects of cancer treatment.
    10 diet and lifestyle recommendations for cancer prevention and/or decreasing risk of cancer recurrence
    Commonly asked questions and misconceptions about cancer as it relates to sugar, soy, supplements

    Thinking about getting a wig? In need of a wig consultation? Do you have a wig that you no longer need? Do you want to “pay it forward” and give someone else the use of your refurbished wig?

    Come to a wig seminar offered by Dr. Beatrice Afrangui where she will discuss her own hair journey and how to choose, style, or color the right wig for you.Dr. Afrangui

    is also willing to schedule individual wig consultations. This will be a hybrid presentation. You can watch from home or come to our Bethesda location with a wig to share or to be assessed.

    “Chemo brain” is a term used to describe difficulties with word-finding and memory, often experienced during and after chemotherapy.

    Jessica Parker, M.A., CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist. She will discuss the benefits of cognitive rehabilitation, and give you tips for making small changes to your daily routine that will have a big impact on your thinking skills and brain health.

    Hypnosis has been shown to decrease pain, anxiety, and stress when facing a cancer diagnosis.  Don Pelles, a certified hypnotherapist, will teach self-hypnosis techniques that will assist in the management of these symptoms.     Participation in clinical trials for new blood cancer treatments should reflect the patient population who will use the treatment. Yet Black Americans continue to be underrepresented across most clinical trials – even for diseases like multiple myeloma, the most common blood cancer diagnosed in the Black community.
