Headshot of Amy Weinberg

Amy Weinberg

Director of Development

Amy first worked at Hope Connections as a volunteer in 2016, before joining the staff.  She oversees fundraising efforts that target individuals, corporations and local government.

Prior to coming to Hope, she was a Professor of Linguistics and Computer Science at the University of Maryland and served as Executive Director of its Center for Advanced Study of Language, where she developed her expertise in fundraising.  She holds a PhD in Linguistics and Philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Certificate in NonProfit Management from Georgetown University.

Her passion for Hope’s mission stems from seeing people benefit from the sharing and community Hope provides and from her mother’s, her aunt’s and her own experience with breast cancer, as well as watching her father succumb to lung cancer.

She currently serves on the Boards of the All Stars Project and the Studio Theater.  She lives in the District, with her husband and takes advantage of the city’s good food and great culture.
