    Every Reiki and Chakra Clearing Class is designed to provide opportunities for participants to open and balance chakras for themselves and significant others, learn about each chakra and it’s role in our well being, and participate in a group Reiki sharing experience.

  • Relaxation and Tranquility

    Let your body feel relaxation and your mind experience tranquility. Led by Larry Bricker, M.Ed. & Reiki Master, you will learn techniques to minimize pain, reduce stress and increase feelings of wellness.

  • Expressive Art

    Facilitator Judy Goldstein provides new opportunities every month for participants to express themselves through art. No art experience is necessary.

  • Breast Health Equity: Biomarkers and You

    Laura Crandon, a breast cancer survivor and Founder and President of Touch4Life will be discussing disparities in breast cancer detection, treatment, and survivorship that exist for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).She will also cover breast cancer testing and the facts you need to get the care you deserve. We hope you will join us for this important talk.

  • San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium Update

    Dr. Jeni Sheng, Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will provide an overview of the latest findings in treatment, and research, from the 2023 San Antonio  Breast Cancer Symposium.

  • Creativity to Well-being

    Patricia Dubroof, Director of Community Relations at Assisting Hands of Potomac will lead this interactive session where we will make art (for all levels) that focuses on improving your sense of Well-Being.

  • Having Difficult Conversations

    When people are facing a shortened life expectancy Hospice can be there to help. Hospice Care is patient-centered, and it involves mind, body, and spirit. Miriam Rendon-Ponce with Hospice of the Chesapeake will help lead this important discussion. We hope you will join us.

  • St. Patrick’s Day Potluck Social

    Join us for this year's March Potluck Social! Feel free to share your favorite Pot O’Soup or Irish Stew, or appetizers, rolls, dessert, soda, tea, or whatever favorite recipe you’ve been wanting to share. And if you don’t feel like cooking, no problem, paper goods, sodas, iced tea and water are always a welcome addition!

A Leaf411 nurse will provide education and directional support about the safe use of legal cannabis (marijuana & hemp). Their team of cannabis-trained nurses are passionate about helping people access balanced education about their legal cannabis use and provide answers to your questions.

    This professionally facilitated support group is for individuals who have lost a loved one to cancer. Learn new ways of coping and connect with others who are going through a similar experience.

  • Maintaining Good Nutrition During and After Cancer Treatment

    Isabella Nelson (Clinical Dietitian Specialist at Johns Hopkins Medicine) will discuss:

    strategies to maintain good nutrition while experiencing side effects of cancer treatment.
    10 diet and lifestyle recommendations for cancer prevention and/or decreasing risk of cancer recurrence
    Commonly asked questions and misconceptions about cancer as it relates to sugar, soy, supplements

    Dr. Glenna Crooks offers a roadmap to help us understand networks in a new way with emphasis on becoming aware of your connections (and their importance) and clarity about your needs. Please join us for this empowering talk.

    Thinking about getting a wig? In need of a wig consultation? Do you have a wig that you no longer need? Do you want to “pay it forward” and give someone else the use of your refurbished wig?

    Come to a wig seminar offered by Dr. Beatrice Afrangui where she will discuss her own hair journey and how to choose, style, or color the right wig for you.Dr. Afrangui

    is also willing to schedule individual wig consultations. This will be a hybrid presentation. You can watch from home or come to our Bethesda location with a wig to share or to be assessed.

  • Young Adult Hot Topics/ Build Your Best Brain: Promoting Brain Health During and After Chemotherapy

    “Chemo brain” is a term used to describe difficulties with word-finding and memory, often experienced during and after chemotherapy.

    Jessica Parker, M.A., CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist. She will discuss the benefits of cognitive rehabilitation, and give you tips for making small changes to your daily routine that will have a big impact on your thinking skills and brain health.

  • Reiki –n- Recipes

    Learn nourishing self-care recipes infused with reiki energy. Plus enjoy relaxing group Reiki.  Dress comfortably and bring your favorite beverage!

  • Healthy Connections from Within (In-Person in Bethesda)

  • Hypnosis for Symptom Reduction

    Hypnosis has been shown to decrease pain, anxiety, and stress when facing a cancer diagnosis.  Don Pelles, a certified hypnotherapist, will teach self-hypnosis techniques that will assist in the management of these symptoms. Caregivers are welcome, and we hope you will join us for this wellness class.

    Through reflective writing practices, Kara Woodshank will explore purpose, why purpose matters, and how to find and live with purpose.

  • Clinical Trials: The Past, The Present & You

    Participation in clinical trials for new blood cancer treatments should reflect the patient population who will use the treatment. Yet Black Americans continue to be underrepresented across most clinical trials – even for diseases like multiple myeloma, the most common blood cancer diagnosed in the Black community.

    Please join us to learn more about the need for diversity in clinical trial participation and what changes are necessary to make these trials more accessible to all patients.

    Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that is practiced as a system of exercise, and that consists of a series of postures performed slowly and continuously with relaxed abdominal breathing. It is sometimes called moving meditation and it can be practiced without any special equipment. It’s sure to help with joint flexibility, balance and calming the mind.

    Acupuncturist, Dr. Tierra Hardin, with Nobel Integrative Health, will be offering auriculotherapy acupuncture on the first Tuesday of every month from 12:30-2:00 PM. Auriculotherapy (ear) acupuncture focuses on anxiety, pain, and stress. A wavier must be signed at the start of class.

    Hypnosis has been shown to decrease pain, anxiety and stress as well as other symptoms related to cancer treatment. Certified hypnotherapist Don Pelles will teach self-hypnosis techniques that will assist in the management of these symptoms.
